On a Sunday, he uploaded a picture of himself with a young woman he described as “an attractive Uyghur girl.” The post quickly gained a lot of traction, with Mr. Tan claiming it got a massive 450,000 views in just two days. This was a huge jump from his usual posts, which typically only get around 5,000 views.
When people started criticizing him for his liking of “pretty girls,” Mr. Tan didn’t hold back. He called his critics “hypocrites,” arguing that they also enjoy seeing pictures of pretty girls and should be honest with themselves instead of judging him.
He also mentioned that he only posted the photo because of “popular demand.” He explained that his followers “preferred pretty girls” over his other content. To show what he meant, he compared the photo’s huge number of views to a video he had shared about an irrigation system, which only got about 3,000 views.
In his original post, he described the young woman as “not only pretty but friendly” and said she happily agreed to let him take her picture. The article notes that most people who commented seemed to agree with him. Some said he should be free to post whatever he wants, while others simply appreciated him sharing pictures of “good-looking people” from the Xinjiang region.
This isn’t the first time Mr. Tan’s social media posts have made headlines.
