RIP birdy..
Something very unusual happened at a coffeeshop in Yishun recently when a pigeon suddenly flew into the area and, according to witnesses, crashed into a ceiling fan before dropping dead onto a dining table. The incident happened on Sunday, August 31, at around noon, at a coffeeshop located at Block 848 Yishun Street 81.
A video of the incident quickly spread online, showing the lifeless pigeon lying on a table right next to a plate of steamed fish and rice. Onlookers gathered around the table to see what had happened, and a young boy was even seen getting close to get a better look.
When reporters from Shin Min Daily News went to the coffeeshop the next day, they spoke to a 36-year-old eyewitness named Mr. Liu. He was having a meal with his wife at a nearby table when he heard a loud crash. He told the reporters, “I looked over and saw the pigeon falling onto the table. It was really shocking.”
The table where the pigeon landed was occupied by a woman and her son, who were eating their meal. After the bird fell, they immediately pushed their food aside and stopped eating. Mr. Liu noted that the pigeon died instantly from the fall. He added that the mother and son were probably worried their food was contaminated because they did not touch their fish and rice again after that.
Mr. Liu, who said he eats at that coffeeshop often, mentioned that this was the first time he had ever seen anything like this happen there. Reporters later observed three or four pigeons flying around the same coffeeshop, but they didn’t seem to be bothering any of the other diners.
