FairPrice Group is providing a significant boost to lower-income families with more children by doubling their discounts. In a special initiative to celebrate SG60, the company is offering a bigger discount to families with three or more children under 18 who hold a Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue or Orange card. This new benefit is available from September 1 to December 31, 2025.
Normally, these cardholders receive a 3% discount on certain days: on Thursdays for CHAS Blue cardholders and on Fridays for CHAS Orange cardholders. FairPrice is temporarily increasing this to a 6% discount on those same days. FairPrice Group has described this as a “four-month initiative” and a way to support all Singaporeans during the nation’s birthday celebration. The program also aligns with the government’s push to assist larger families and foster a more family-friendly environment.
According to Vipul Chawla, the Group CEO of FairPrice Group, this move is a great way to conclude a year of special programs for the SG60 celebrations. He stated, “This doubling of discounts for CHAS Blue and Orange cardholders with large families ties off a full year of FPG initiatives and programmes launched to celebrate SG60 with all in Singapore.“ FairPrice Group was the first retailer in Singapore to offer a discount for CHAS Orange cardholders, which are for individuals in households with a monthly income per person between $1,501 and $2,300. This is the second time this year that FairPrice has doubled the discounts for these cardholders.
Gina Tan, a mother of three who has a CHAS Blue card, expressed how much the extra savings mean to her family. She commented, “For families like mine, every bit of savings goes a long way.” She explained that her family typically spends at least $140 during their two weekly shopping trips to FairPrice. The additional savings will help ease their weekly budget and reduce some of the stress involved in planning meals for her children.
To make things more convenient, FairPrice has streamlined the process for these customers. The discounts are automatically applied through their mobile app. Customers only need to verify their details once using MyInfo, and the discount will be automatically applied each time they pay with the app.
