A 66-year-old Singaporean man faces murder charges after allegedly stabbing a mother of two to death at Block 323 Yishun Central on 24 Sep 2025.

Koh Ah Hwee attacked Nguyen Phuong Tra, a 30-year-old Vietnamese national, in the corridor outside a sixth-floor HDB flat around 7:25am. Police found three injured individuals at the scene: the accused, the victim, and her 33-year-old husband.

The Fatal Confrontation

Police investigations reveal the violence started from a noise dispute between neighbours. Koh allegedly stabbed Ms Nguyen in the chest with a knife during the altercation.

Ms Nguyen was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the hospital. Her husband also sustained injuries while trying to confront the attacker.

Witnesses reported being woken by shouting. They saw the woman bleeding on the ground and her husband attempting to stop the attack before getting hurt himself.

Legal Action

Police arrested Koh at the scene. A magistrate processed the murder charge at his hospital bed due to his injuries from the incident.

The capital charge carries a potential death sentence if convicted. Court proceedings continue on 2 Oct 2025.

Police interviewed neighbours and examined bloodstains in the corridor as part of ongoing investigations.

Background Tensions

Residents told media that noise disputes in the block had persisted despite previous mediation attempts by local authorities.

Nee Soon GRC MP Jackson Lam confirmed that noise problems in the building had continued even after intervention efforts. The fatal attack followed a series of unresolved disagreements between the parties involved.
