Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max on 25 September 2025 in China as the flagship model of its new 17 series.

The 17 Pro Max features Xiaomi’s largest smartphone display at 6.9 inches with 2K AMOLED technology. The device packs a 7,500mAh battery – the company’s biggest to date – with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Xiaomi uses silicon-carbon battery technology in the device. This allows for the large battery capacity without increasing the phone’s thickness.

The phone includes a 2.9-inch rear display called “Magic Back Screen.” Users can view notifications, access widgets, or use the rear cameras for selfies through this secondary screen.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor powers the device. The phone runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3.

Three Leica-branded 50MP cameras make up the main camera system: wide, ultrawide, and periscope telephoto with optical zoom. The front camera uses a 50MP sensor with autofocus capabilities.

The device offers IP68 dust and water resistance. Storage configurations reach up to 1TB with 16GB RAM options using high-speed memory standards.

Xiaomi priced the base model at CNY 5,999 (approximately SGD $1,087) in China. Higher-end variants cost up to CNY 6,999 (about SGD $1,269).

The company plans a global launch for early 2026. Pre-orders began on 25 September 2025 with shipping starting 27 September 2025.

The 17 Pro Max competes directly with Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max, which also features a 6.9-inch display. Xiaomi’s device offers a larger battery capacity compared to Apple’s 4,832mAh battery and provides up to 16GB RAM versus Apple’s 12GB maximum.

Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max uses the A19 Pro chipset and includes satellite SOS capabilities. Both devices support 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC connectivity with IP68 ratings.

Xiaomi typically releases its flagship series globally within several months after the China launch. The company maintains its strategy of pricing devices below Apple and Samsung offerings with similar specifications.
