A 75-year-old woman was found dead in her seventh-floor flat at Block 102 Bedok North Avenue 4 on 19 Oct 2025. Visiting relatives detected a foul odour coming from the unit, according to Shin Min Daily News.
Three female relatives arrived at the flat around 12pm on Sunday. They knocked on the door but received no answer. One of them identified herself as the woman’s goddaughter and asked a male neighbour whether he had seen the resident recently.
The relatives called the police shortly after detecting the foul smell from the unit.
The Singapore Police Force received a call for assistance at about 3.20pm on 19 Oct 2025. Officers found the woman lying motionless inside the flat. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Shin Min Daily News reporter arrived at the scene around 6pm after receiving a tip-off from the public about the foul smell at the block. Several police vehicles were parked downstairs.
The stench could be detected immediately upon stepping out of the lift on the seventh floor. Part of the corridor was cordoned off while officers conducted investigations and collected evidence. The body was removed from the flat at about 8.30pm.
The deceased was a Chinese woman who had lived alone in the flat for over a decade, according to a neighbour on the same floor. The neighbour occasionally saw her in the corridor but had not seen her for weeks before learning about her death when police arrived.
Another neighbour said she never saw anyone visit the deceased. The elderly woman’s death came as a surprise to this neighbour, as she appeared to be in good health and did not need a cane or wheelchair to move around.
A third neighbour, a male resident, said he rarely spoke to the woman. The last time he saw her was nearly two months ago. He explained that he rarely ran into her because he leaves home early and returns late. The last time he saw her was probably around the Hungry Ghost Festival, which fell in August 2025.
The police stated that no foul play is suspected based on preliminary investigations. Further police investigations are ongoing.
