The Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) has stepped in. The association wants to address consumer concerns about unused pre-paid and gift cards.
Closure and Relaunch Plans
Gong Cha stopped operations in Singapore on 2 October 2025. The company removed all local social media accounts. The website went down.
Chief Executive Kang Puay Seng told Lianhe Zaobao that the franchise agreement with Gong Cha ended on 1 October 2025.
Gong Cha Global announced the brand’s return. New local franchisees will operate the stores as part of the global “Gong Cha 2.0” revamp.
Consumer Concerns About Pre-Paid Cards
Case has asked Gong Cha for clarification on unredeemed pre-paid balances and gift cards.
Many consumers don’t know if they’ll get refunds. They also don’t know if they can redeem their balances when Gong Cha reopens.
Case president Melvin Yong advised consumers to keep detailed records of pre-paid purchases and balances. They should wait for further updates.
Consumers who need help may contact Case at 6277-5100.
Case has requested Gong Cha to provide clearer details about the reopening timeline.
