HarbourFront Centre will close in the second half of 2026 for a complete redevelopment. Owner Mapletree Investments announced the plan on 28 Oct 2025.
The project will take about five years. Completion is scheduled for the first half of 2031.
The new building will stand 33 storeys tall and cover 123,000 sq m. Twenty-six floors will house Grade A office space. Five floors will be set aside for retail and experiential use.
The current 13-storey structure opened in 1978 as the World Trade Centre. It got its current name in 2003.
Mapletree received provisional permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority in 2023. The Business Times reported the approved plans include 101,326 sq m of office space and 42,000 sq m of retail space. That’s 47 per cent more space than what exists now.
Green Spaces and Water Views
A 13,000 sq m elevated park will sit next to a new waterfront promenade. People can watch the sun set over the Singapore Strait. The promenade will have areas for walking and activities.
The building will offer 360-degree views. Look south and you’ll see the sea. Turn north and you’ll catch the Southern Ridges and city skyline. Bicycle parking and end-of-trip facilities will serve cyclists using the coastal cycling network in the Greater Southern Waterfront.
Green Features
Solar panels will cut down electricity drawn from the grid. The building will use sustainable water management practices and smart lighting. Electric vehicle charging stations will be part of the package.
Where It Stands
VivoCity sits to the east. HarbourFront Towers One and Two stand to the west. A new two-storey cruise and ferry terminal is going up next to the existing HarbourFront Centre. That terminal should start running around the second half of 2026.
The site connects directly to HarbourFront MRT station, which serves the North East and Circle lines. The Circle Line loop will finish in the first half of 2026, adding more transport options.
Moving the Terminal
Ferry and cruise operations at HarbourFront Passenger Terminal will shift to a new interim terminal around the second half of 2026. Singapore Cruise Centre will run it.
