PM Wong and Trump Discuss Global Issues, Exchange Gifts at South Korea Dinner Hosted by President Lee Jae Myung

PM Lawrence Wong Meets U.S. President Donald Trump in South Korea, Presents Customised RSAF Bomber Jacket

Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong recently met up with United States President Donald Trump on October 29, 2025. The meeting happened while both leaders were attending a dinner hosted by South Korea’s President Lee Jae Myung in Gyeongju, just before the start of the APEC summit. They had actually both been in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a few days earlier for the ASEAN summit.

Joining PM Wong and President Trump were the heads of government from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In a post on his Facebook page, PM Wong mentioned that he and the other leaders had a talk that was “wide-ranging” and “engaging.” They discussed global developments, which included the shared challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. He noted, “Always valuable to exchange perspectives with friends and partners from around the world.”

A big part of PM Wong’s conversation with President Trump was about the strong security relationship between Singapore and the U.S.

  • Security Partnership: PM Wong reaffirmed the partnership between the two countries.
  • Appreciation for Support: He also conveyed Singapore’s “deep appreciation” for America’s long-standing support, especially for the Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) training that takes place in the U.S.

As a gesture of this strong partnership, PM Wong gave President Trump a special gift: a customized RSAF bomber jacket. This jacket is just like the ones worn by Singaporean pilots who train in the United States.
