Van Driver Hospitalised After Collision with Waste Truck

Garbage Truck Collides with Lalamove Van on Pasir Ris Road, Blocking Traffic for Hours

A messy accident in Pasir Ris on a Sunday afternoon caused a major jam, leaving drivers stuck for hours. A garbage truck and a Lalamove van collided, with the impact sending half of the truck onto the grassy area next to the road.

The crash happened on Pasir Ris Road, near the Muhammadiyah Welfare Home. A photo shared online showed an 800 Super waste management truck and a Lalamove van blocking the narrow road.

One person, who shared the photo online around 7 p.m., mentioned that he had been stuck there since 5:04 p.m. He noted that a police officer was at the scene and several workers were sitting on the curb, but the vehicles had not been moved.

He was clearly frustrated, questioning how things were handled, especially since the police had been there for almost two hours with no progress on clearing the road. He said he was “told that they had to wait for the insurance company to arrive before they could clear the obstruction.”

Because this is the only road out of that part of Pasir Ris Park, a long line of cars was stuck behind the accident.

Both the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were called to the scene at 4:35 p.m.

  • The 53-year-old van driver was conscious but was taken to Changi General Hospital.
  • The 42-year-old truck driver is helping the police with their investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing.
