A beverage stall worker had her right hand caught in a sugarcane juicing machine at Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre on 10 Oct 2025. She was taken to hospital after a two-hour rescue operation.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an emergency call at 6.50pm. The location was Block 448 Clementi Avenue 3.

What Happened

A stallholder nearby heard shouting from the drink stall around 6.40pm, Shin Min Daily News reported. She thought it was about a cockroach at first. Other stall assistants figured out something serious had happened and called for help.

SCDF officers showed up five minutes later. They blocked off the area as people started gathering around.

The Rescue

Firefighters came with specialists from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART). An SCDF paramedic gave the woman pain medication and checked her vital signs during the entire operation.

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital sent an emergency medical team to the scene.

One diner finished eating at 7.30pm and saw SCDF officers taking apart the machine to free the woman’s hand. The rescue took about two hours. Her hand came free at 8.30pm.

After the Rescue

The woman was awake when paramedics put her in the ambulance. She looked dazed on the stretcher.

SCDF brought her to National University Hospital. Shin Min Daily News reported she works at the juice stall and hurt three of her fingers.
