Actor Zheng Geping Receives PBM Award for Longstanding Service to Woodlands Community

Veteran actor Zheng Geping receives Public Service Medal for 15 years of service in Woodlands community

Veteran Singaporean actor Zheng Geping was formally presented with the Public Service Medal 2025, also known as the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM), at the National Day Investiture ceremony on Sunday, November 16, at ITE College Central in Ang Mo Kio.

The 61-year-old first shared news of the award on Facebook in August, but he finally received the medal in person from President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Speaking on Instagram, Zheng said, “I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the Public Service Award – Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) from our President.”

Zheng received the award for his quiet contributions to the Woodlands community over the past 15 years. Interestingly, he does not live in the Woodlands constituency but joined the community’s volunteer group under a friend’s encouragement. “My sincere gratitude to our dearest Grassroots Adviser, Ms Mariam Jaafar, for the nomination, recognition, and unwavering support. Thank you for your leadership, guidance, and trust,” he wrote.

He added that it was a privilege to serve alongside Mariam Jaafar and the “wonderful Woodlands CCC family.” “I truly appreciate every one of you for your encouragement and partnership,” Zheng said.

The actor also thanked his family for their support. His wife, Hong Huifang, was present at the ceremony to show her encouragement. “A heartfelt thank you to my family for your constant support, understanding, and for often stepping forward to volunteer as well. Your love and encouragement make this journey meaningful,” he shared.

Zheng also congratulated his Woodlands CCC Chairman, Milton Koh, who received the Public Service Medal this year. “You are an inspiration and a role model to us all,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Zheng assured the public of his continued commitment to the community. “Thank you, everyone, for walking this journey with me. I will continue to serve our community with dedication and heart,” he said.

Through his years of volunteer work, Zheng Geping has demonstrated that dedication, quiet service, and community spirit are as meaningful as any public recognition.
