Customer Filmed Throwing Coffee at Zus Coffee Staff; Company Says It Stands by Employee

Customer throws coffee at ZUS Coffee staff in Malaysia, sparks online outrage

Kindness left the chat..

A shocking incident at a Zus Coffee outlet in Malaysia has gone viral after a customer was seen yelling and throwing coffee at an employee.

In the video, the staff at the counter can be heard repeatedly telling the customer, in Mandarin, to “get out” while gesturing with their hands. The woman, who was filming the situation, responded in Mandarin, asking, “Who are you asking to get out?”

When the staff told her to leave again, the woman replied, “Why must I get out? I am here to buy coffee!”

The situation quickly escalated when the customer threw a cup of coffee across the counter, hitting a staff member. The employee then threw the empty cup back, but the woman picked it up and threw it again, this time hitting the staff on the head.

The angry customer was also heard shouting at the female employee, saying, “Cao ni ma,” a vulgar insult that roughly translates to “woe be to your mother.”

Other staff members who were present at the scene appeared to watch silently and did not intervene during the confrontation.

Online Reaction and Boycott Threats

According to the Facebook post, the woman involved appeared to be a Chinese national. Although the reason for the argument was not mentioned, many online users voiced strong support for the employee and criticised the customer’s behaviour.

Several netizens accused Zus Coffee of failing to protect its staff and even threatened to boycott the coffee chain if it stayed silent or punished the employee involved.

Zus Coffee Responds

In a statement released on November 10, Zus Coffee confirmed that it has launched an internal investigation into the incident. The company made it clear that it does not tolerate any kind of disrespect or abuse toward its staff.

“Since the incident occurred, we have taken the necessary steps to conduct a thorough investigation, and we are standing with our Zurista through this time,” the statement said.

Zus Coffee also added, “Working in retail is not always easy, and things should never have escalated the way they did. At the end of the day, we are all humans doing our best.”

The company urged the public to respect the privacy of its staff and to stop sharing the video or spreading false statements.

“Our Zurista is currently recovering from this incident. We appreciate everyone’s kind assistance in giving her the space to heal, while we handle the matter with care and fairness,” the statement concluded.
