Customer Shocked After Neighbour Spots Rider Repacking Spilled Porridge

Rider Seen Pouring Spilled Porridge Back Into Container Before Delivery in Yio Chu Kang

Eww..

On November 22, a delivery rider was seen pouring porridge back into its container after it had spilled into a plastic bag during delivery. The customer, Angela Hoi, 31, first noticed something was off when the rider called her at 12:15 p.m., but arrived at her unit only seven minutes later.

“When I collected the food, the plastic bag felt sticky and was dripping a bit. I thought maybe it spilled during delivery,” Hoi explained.

Neighbour’s Observation

Later, after stepping out and returning home, Hoi found a note from her neighbour. The note claimed the neighbour had witnessed the rider pouring the spilled porridge back into the container at the lift lobby. Along with the note, the neighbour provided photos and time-stamped videos showing the incident.

Although the note mistakenly listed the date as November 30, Hoi confirmed the incident actually took place on November 22.

Hoi also clarified that she had placed the order through GrabFood, while the rider was seen carrying a Foodpanda delivery bag. Commenters online suggested that delivery riders sometimes work for multiple platforms simultaneously.

Customer Reaction

“I trusted that my food would be handled safely, and that trust has been completely broken,” Hoi said. “It is frightening to think my meal was tampered with right outside my doorstep, and I had already eaten part of it without knowing.”

Hoi lodged a formal complaint with Grab but has not yet received a response.

Platform’s Food Safety Rules

Grab’s Code of Conduct requires delivery partners to maintain good hygiene and proper food handling. Violations can lead to suspension or termination.

Online users suggested the rider may have poured the porridge back to avoid paying for the spillage, while emphasising that most delivery riders act responsibly. Some also recommended sealing food containers to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
