A 47-year-old delivery rider crashed into a lorry along Commonwealth Avenue on 13 Nov 2025. The collision happened around 7.30pm along the stretch heading to Commonwealth Avenue West.
Police received the alert at that time. The Singapore Civil Defence Force got the call simultaneously and rushed the motorcyclist to National University Hospital. He was conscious during transport.
What Happened
Photos from the scene showed the motorcycle lying on the road beside the lorry. A pink Foodpanda delivery bag sat nearby. The lorry’s open-box bed was tipped over, which suggests it might have been unloading cargo when the crash happened.
A reader told Shin Min Daily News about the badly damaged motorcycle at 7pm that evening.
The Injuries
The rider suffered multiple serious injuries. He had abrasions across his body, a kidney injury, and a deep gash on his left forehead that exposed the bone. Doctors put him in the Intensive Care Unit first, then moved him to a regular ward.
He went through an MRI scan. Stitches and surgery were on the cards, but doctors needed more time to observe and assess the full damage.
His wife is 38-year-old nail technician Mrs Chen. She said the injuries were serious but not life-threatening. Recovery will take one to two months.
The rider doesn’t remember the accident. He only recalls “everything going black” before the impact, then waking up in hospital. How the collision happened is a blank to him.
Mrs Chen said they’re waiting for police investigation results. They hope witnesses can shed light on what went down.
Finding Out
Mrs Chen had no clue her husband was hurt and hospitalised. He left for work on Thursday like any other day but didn’t pick up his phone that evening.
By Friday morning, he still wasn’t responding. She called a friend who contacted the nearest hospital and found out what happened. She took leave immediately and rushed over. Her husband had just been transferred from ICU to a regular ward when she arrived.
Police Investigation
A 25-year-old male lorry driver is helping police with their investigation.
