Elderly Worker Found Motionless in Lorry at Pioneer Mall; Police Investigating Case

69-year-old man found dead inside lorry at Pioneer Mall car park

A 69-year-old man was found dead inside a parked lorry at the multi-storey car park of Pioneer Mall in Jurong West on Monday morning (Nov 3). Police were at the scene for more than three hours as they investigated the incident.

The incident reportedly happened around 11:50 am. When Shin Min Daily News arrived, several police vehicles were already on the third floor of the car park. Officers had put up a blue tent in front of a silver car and a white lorry, where the body was found.

Due to the heavy traffic in the area, police were seen directing vehicles and making sure the public stayed clear of the tented zone.

One witness, Ms Lim, a 24-year-old accountant, said she was at the mall for lunch with a colleague when she noticed the police presence.

“I heard someone had passed away, but I’m not sure what happened,” she said. “We often come here for lunch, so it’s quite scary to see something like this.”

Nearby shop owners said they didn’t even realise something had happened.

“We were busy serving customers and didn’t even realise the police were here,” said one shopkeeper. “There’s a clinic and a big supermarket nearby, so this area is usually quite crowded.”

The man had been found unconscious inside the lorry, and when authorities arrived, his body was moved out of the vehicle. The area was cordoned off to keep people from getting too close.

The lorry was marked with the logo of a scaffolding services company. A staff member from the company later confirmed that the deceased was one of their employees and had collapsed on his way to work.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that they had received a report about the incident.

Preliminary investigations have ruled out foul play, but police said they are still looking into the case.
