A 30-year-old factory operator and her four-year-old daughter were found dead in their Taman Perak home in Kulim on 4 Nov. Police arrived just before midnight after neighbours called for help.
The woman’s body was hanging from a ceiling fan in a bedroom. Her daughter lay dead on a mattress nearby.
The woman’s seven-year-old son survived but suffered injuries to his neck and jaw. He escaped the house and ran to neighbours for help.
Neighbours rushed over after the boy’s call. They found the woman’s body and contacted police immediately.
Kulim police chief Superintendent Zulkifli Azizan said initial investigations point to the woman attempting to kill both children before ending her own life. The deaths appear connected to emotional distress from a relationship dispute.
Forensic teams found no signs of forced entry. The bodies showed no external injuries except those consistent with strangulation and smothering.
Officers discovered two handwritten notes in the living room alongside identification documents for the woman and her two children.
In one note, the woman apologised and explained her decision. “I apologise to everyone, this is my ‘final journey’ and I can no longer endure the heartache. (The children) cannot be left with anyone, which was why I felt compelled to take them with me,” she wrote.
She thanked her friends and stated they had nothing to do with her decision.
The bodies have been sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star for post-mortem examinations. The surviving boy is receiving treatment at Kulim Hospital.
Police are investigating under Sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempted murder) of the Penal Code.
