A Grab driver has been suspended for watching TikTok videos while ferrying a passenger. The incident happened on 31 Oct 2025 around 6pm during a trip to Craig Road.
Video footage submitted to Stomp showed the driver scrolling through TikTok for most of the 21-minute journey. He used the app’s auto-scroll function to watch videos hands-free. The ride cost $29.50.
The driver only stopped watching in the final two to four minutes to check the navigation map.
Passenger Reports Five Near-Accidents
The passenger said they nearly got into five accidents during that single ride. She filed a complaint with Grab after reaching her destination.
Initially, Grab told her the driver received a warning. “I complained to Grab and all I was told was that he got a warning,” she said. “We need better regulations for drivers to keep our roads safe – we missed five accidents in that one ride.”
Grab Issues Suspension and Full Refund
Grab responded on 4 Nov 2025 with stronger action. The company suspended the driver and gave the passenger a full refund.
A Grab spokesperson apologized for the incident. “The safety of our Grab community is one of our top priorities, and we sincerely apologise for the distress this passenger experienced,” the spokesperson said.
The company operates under a zero-tolerance policy for Code of Conduct violations. Grab said most of their driver-partners don’t behave this way.
Serious and repeated breaches can lead to permanent removal from the platform.
