Jessica Jung is being sued for SGD $2.40 million (13.1 million RMB) over claims she broke her contract with a Chinese company.
The Yuhang District People’s Court in Hangzhou made the announcement public on 13 Mar 2025. Hangzhou Xuanbu Network Technology Co., Ltd. filed the case after they couldn’t reach the former K-pop star directly.
The company wants their 10 million RMB (SGD $1.82 million) advance payment back. They’re also asking for three million RMB (SGD $546,000) in penalties and 100,000 RMB (SGD $18,200) for legal fees.
According to the lawsuit, Jessica didn’t show up for scheduled events. The company says she also skipped out on promotional work she’d agreed to do. The partnership apparently came about because Jessica had become popular again in China.
Coridel Entertainment, her management agency, shot down every claim. They posted a statement on Weibo calling the accusations completely made up.
“This false information, which includes malicious slander, personal attacks, and misleading associations, has severely damaged the artist’s reputation and mental well-being,” the company said. They’ve hired lawyers to gather evidence and go after anyone spreading what they call lies.
Jessica got big in China again after appearing on Sisters Who Make Waves Season 3 in 2022. She made it to the finals and used that momentum to rebuild her career in mainland China.
