Orange & Teal Café by SDP’s Chee Soon Juan Shuts Down, Says Goodbye with Gratitude

Chee Soon Juan’s Orange & Teal Café Ends Operations After Over 3 Years in Business

Orange & Teal, the cafe started by Singapore Democratic Party chief Chee Soon Juan and his wife, has announced that it will be closing its doors.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday morning (November 11), the cafe team wrote:

“Dear friends, we have decided to conclude our journey with Orange & Teal. While this chapter comes to a close, we do so with gratitude and optimism. We are happy we started Orange & Teal, and just as happy to leave it on our own terms – knowing its spirit of courage, warmth, and connection will live on.”

Dr Chee also shared the post, adding:

“We look forward to picking up where we left off on another day.”

The cafe will hold cash and carry sales from November 11 to November 13.

Background of Orange & Teal

Orange & Teal first opened in June 2021 at Rochester Mall. A second outlet was launched at Marina Square in August 2022, but that location closed in October 2024.

When the cafe first opened, Dr Chee described it as a “long-term dream” for him and his wife. He said they wanted a space where discussion and debate could happen freely, reflecting the spirit of connection and openness they hoped the cafe would embody.

Closure Details

The Facebook post did not specify why the cafe is shutting down, but the tone of the message expressed gratitude for the experience and optimism for the future.

Despite closing, the team emphasized that the spirit of Orange & Teal – one of courage, warmth, and connection will continue in their future endeavors.

The cafe’s closure marks the end of a three-year chapter in Singapore’s cafe scene, leaving behind memories of lively conversations, discussions, and a community-focused space created by Dr Chee and his wife.
