Security Removes Man Who Rushed Ariana Grande at Sentosa Yellow Carpet Event

Fan Breaches Barricade and Grabs Ariana Grande at Singapore ‘Wicked’ Premiere

The Singapore premiere of The Wicked: For Good on Thursday night (Nov 13) was briefly interrupted when a fan jumped over the event’s barricade and rushed at American pop star and actress Ariana Grande.

The incident happened during the yellow carpet event at Universal Studios Singapore. Videos shared on social media showed the man putting his arm around Grande and jumping up and down. Security quickly tackled and removed him from the area. CNA Lifestyle understands he was escorted out and left Sentosa by train.

Cast members, including Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Michelle Yeoh, along with director Jon M. Chu, were caught off guard. Erivo was seen stepping in immediately to intervene.

The man, identified as a content creator who goes by the handle Pyjama Man, reportedly comes from Australia. He has a history of rushing towards celebrities in public, including Katy Perry and The Weeknd. His previous stunts have taken place across the world, such as in India in 2023, when he ran onto the Narendra Modi Stadium pitch during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia.

Pyjama Man later uploaded a video of the incident on his social media, showing Erivo brushing him off after his attempt to get close to Grande. He captioned the post: “Dear Ariana Grande, Thank You for letting me jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.”

Fans quickly condemned the stunt as dangerous and inappropriate. “Imagine how terrifying that is for a man you do not know to come running full force at you, and you do not know what their intentions are,” commented one user on TikTok.

Before the yellow carpet, the cast and director attended a public fan meet at Weave in Resorts World Sentosa. The night before, both Grande and Erivo visited Universal Studios Singapore and shared their outing on Instagram Stories.
