A Singaporean man praised the swift response of the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) after a female tourist fainted at Jewel Changi Airport. The incident occurred at around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, on level two of the mall.
Mr Stephen Lum, who was passing by with his wife, said the woman’s family “panicked” when she collapsed. They tried to wake her, but she remained unresponsive.
While his wife applied Tiger Balm on the woman’s temples, Mr Lum went to a nearby shop to seek medical assistance.
Two police officers arrived quickly and helped call for medical assistance. A Chinese-speaking officer spoke to the woman’s family, who appeared to be from mainland China, and asked whether they had just arrived in Singapore or were departing. The tourist’s father explained they were on a short holiday to Thailand before returning to China.
When SCDF paramedics arrived, they provided oxygen to the woman. Mr Lum shared a photo showing two SCDF personnel attending to her, while also asking him to stand back to give them space. The paramedics conducted other medical checks, and two more personnel were seen in the background with a stretcher.
Mr Lum praised the police and SCDF, saying the officers did an excellent job calling for medical assistance. He added that all personnel involved did a “wonderful job” and felt that their professionalism gave Singapore a good reputation.
He said, “I’m so proud of them for being so professional.”
