A 24-year-old trailer driver is currently assisting police after his vehicle reportedly self-skidded and got stuck along Syed Alwi Road on Sunday evening (Nov 3).
The police said they were alerted to the accident at around 7:10pm, near the stretch of road heading towards Jalan Sultan. When officers arrived, they found a large trailer blocking part of the road.
According to Stomp, the trailer had been reversing against the flow of traffic in an attempt to enter a public housing construction site nearby. However, things didn’t go as planned — the heavy vehicle reportedly self-skidded, causing it to get stuck and block traffic for quite some time.
The situation quickly caused a jam in the area. Vehicles were unable to move for more than 10 minutes, and drivers were seen waiting in long queues as the trailer remained in the middle of the road.
After the accident, the road had to be closed for over two hours while traffic police redirected vehicles and carried out investigations.
A witness told Stomp that the trailer “took up almost the whole lane,” and many cars were forced to turn around to avoid the scene.
