A 37-year-old man attacked a staff member at Jyu Yae Bistro in Pasir Ris on 9 Dec 2025. The reason? A bottle of water that cost more than he thought.
The assault happened at 10:42 PM at the bar in E!Avenue mall at Downtown East.
The Price Dispute
The bar’s marketing director told 8World News that a staff member had approached the customer to collect payment for his bill.
The man thought the bottle of water would cost S$0.20. It actually cost S$2.50.
When he found out the real price, he immediately attacked the 23-year-old employee.
Caught on Camera
Video footage shows the attacker, dressed in all black, initially appearing to talk with the staff member.
He then hooked his leg around the employee and pulled him down. While the worker was on the ground, the man kicked him multiple times.
Other staff members rushed out to help. The attacker walked away.
The employee suffered facial bleeding and minor injuries.
“Come Hit Me”
Customers from nearby bars came out to see what was going on.
The attacker allegedly taunted them, repeatedly saying “come hit me”.
Marketing director Shen told 8World News the man “behaved like a thug”. She said he appeared to be trying to provoke others into fighting him.
She suggested he was attempting to make it look like self-defence before police arrived.
Permanent Ban
The injured employee was taken to hospital conscious. He’s since been discharged and given three days of medical leave.
Jyu Yae Bistro filed a police report.
The bar announced on Instagram that the man is permanently banned from all establishments under Jyu Concepts. That includes Jyu Yae, Jyu Lae, and Jyu Gae.
According to the marketing director, this wasn’t his first offence at their venues. He’s a repeat offender who has deliberately caused trouble at bars before. Other establishments have also been victims of his behaviour.
The ban was put in place to protect staff and customers at all their outlets.
Police Investigation
Police received a call for assistance at 1 Pasir Ris Close at 10:45 PM.
A 37-year-old man is currently assisting with investigations.
The case remains under investigation.
