A 46-year-old American was arrested on 9 December after allegedly molesting a young girl at Changi Airport’s transit area.
The Singapore Police Force released details of the incident on 10 December.
What Happened
The alleged molest occurred around 4:55pm on 9 December at Terminal 3’s transit area. The six-year-old girl was sleeping on a bench next to her mother when the man allegedly approached her.
He then molested the child.
The mother woke up and saw what was happening. She confronted him immediately. He walked away.
She called the police.
Quick Arrest
Airport Police Division officers identified the suspect using CCTV footage. They arrested him within four hours of the report.
He’ll be charged in court on 11 December with using criminal force on a person with intent to outrage modesty.
Potential Punishment
If convicted, he faces up to five years in jail. The court can also impose a fine, caning, or any combination of these punishments.
