A pedestrian was hit by a car and hurled several metres along Sengkang Central, with dashcam footage of the incident later circulating online. The accident happened at a busy junction in the Sengkang area and was clearly captured on video, showing how fast the situation escalated.
The footage was posted on Xiaohongshu, also known in English as RedNote, a Chinese social networking and e-commerce platform. It was recorded at approximately 5:55 p.m. on January 17 and has since garnered widespread attention from online users.
Pedestrian Jogged Across After Light Turned Red
In the video, the man was seen wearing a black shirt and shorts. He jogged onto the road after the pedestrian traffic light had already turned red. At that time, traffic was still moving through the junction.
As the man reached about halfway across the road, he was struck by a red car. The dashcam footage showed that the vehicle was travelling through the intersection with a green light when the collision happened.
The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown several metres forward along the road. Despite the force of the collision, the man was later seen getting back on his feet moments after being hit.
He appeared injured and was observed limping slowly towards the curb, away from the road. The video captured the moments immediately after the impact, which many viewers described as alarming.
The 59-second clip gained strong traction on Xiaohongshu, receiving 3,260 likes and 315 comments. Many users commented on the timing of the pedestrian crossing and the speed at which the accident happened.
The video continues to be shared on social media platforms, drawing attention due to the clear visuals and the location of the incident.
SCDF Confirms One Person Taken to Hospital
In response to queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to a traffic accident at the junction of Buangkok Drive and Sengkang Central at about 6.35 pm on Jan 17. SCDF confirmed that “one person was conveyed to Sengkang General Hospital” following the incident.
No additional details about the pedestrian’s condition were provided.
