Two people were taken to the hospital after the car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into gas equipment along Adam Road on January 4.
Firefighters Quickly Respond
A video circulating online showed firefighters hosing down the car, which was on fire. At least one fire engine and a police vehicle were at the scene to help contain the situation. Photos taken after the accident showed the charred car next to dislodged gas equipment.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received the alert at 3:55 p.m., just minutes after police were notified of the accident at around 3:50 p.m. The fire involved both the vehicle and the gas equipment on the side of the slip road near Arcadia Road. It was extinguished using two water jets.
Victims Taken to Hospital
The driver, a 27-year-old woman, and her 30-year-old passenger were taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Officers from SP Group were also at the scene to isolate the gas supply. In a statement, SP Group said it was alerted to the incident at around 4:30 p.m. after a vehicle had crashed into gas equipment housed in an overground box.
The company added, “Town gas supply to customers was not affected by the damaged equipment as it was able to supply another gas feed.” They also said repairs are in progress but may take a few weeks because of the damage, and they will ensure gas supply to customers is maintained.
Traffic and Public Transport Updates
The Land Transport Authority warned motorists of congestion extending to Empress Road and advised avoiding lanes three and four. SBS Transit reported delays for bus services 74, 93, 157, 165, and 852, but by 7:20 p.m., services had returned to normal.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the cause of the fire is also under investigation.
