Learners in Singapore will need to pay more for driving lessons starting January 1, 2026, as the three main driving centres raised their fees for practical, theory, and simulator lessons.
Singapore Safety Driving Centre Updates
At the Singapore Safety Driving Centre in Woodlands, simulator training costs have increased by 25.2 per cent, rising from $24.38 to $30.52 per session. Theory lessons have also gone up by 23.1 per cent, from seventeen dollars and seventy-one cents to twenty-one dollars and eighty cents for a 100-minute session. The centre’s spokesperson said the new prices were “implemented to ensure business continuity and to allow us to provide even better services to our customers.”
Bukit Batok and ComfortDelGro Driving Centres
Bukit Batok Driving Centre has increased the cost of a 100-minute practical lesson during peak times, such as 7:20 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, by 6.8 percent, from eighty dollars and sixty-six cents to eighty-six dollars and eleven cents. ComfortDelGro Driving Centre in Ubi also raised its peak-period practical lesson fees by 9.3 percent, from eighty-one dollars and seventy-five cents to eighty-nine dollars and thirty-eight cents per session. Peak periods at ComfortDelGro Driving Centre are from 10:20 a.m. to noon and 4:25 p.m. to 10:20 p.m. on weekdays, as well as all time slots on weekends.
A ComfortDelGro Driving Centre spokesperson told The Straits Times that the price changes are to “support salary revisions for its instructors so that their wages would be market-competitive; manage rising costs; and fund technological initiatives that help student learning.” Simulator training at the centre has also increased by 12.1 percent, from twenty-seven dollars and three cents to thirty dollars and thirty cents per 20-minute session.
Motorcycle and Heavy Vehicle Lessons
Fee increases have also been applied to motorcycle and heavy vehicle driving lessons. At Singapore Safety Driving Centre, heavy vehicle rental for driving tests rose by 26.3 percent, from two hundred seven dollars and ten cents to two hundred sixty-one dollars and sixty cents. At Bukit Batok Driving Centre, peak-period practical lessons for motorcycles with engines over 400cc went up 10 percent, from forty-three dollars and sixty cents to forty-seven dollars and ninety-six cents.
Some learners expressed frustration at the higher costs. Temasek Polytechnic student Javion Lim, who has taken three lessons at Singapore Safety Driving Centre, said, “It is quite annoying. Even though the increase is not a lot, I still have many lessons to go, and the cost will really add up.” He also pays extra to others to secure lesson slots because booking directly is almost impossible.
