A woman believed to be a domestic helper was caught on video allegedly striking a boy who was seated in a wheelchair at Hougang Central Bus Interchange. The incident reportedly happened on Jan 23 at around 3pm and has since sparked concern online after the footage circulated on Facebook.

The video shows the woman accompanying the boy as they waited to board a bus at the interchange. When the bus arrived, its rear door opened to allow wheelchair access. The woman then attempted to push the wheelchair forward but appeared to struggle for a short while.
Footage Shows Alleged Act
In the video, the woman was seen pushing the wheelchair harder after failing to move it smoothly. Moments later, she appeared to forcefully hit the back of the boy’s head with her hand. After that, she managed to push the wheelchair towards the bus and continue boarding.
The person who uploaded the clip said they witnessed the woman striking the boy’s head repeatedly, but only managed to record one instance on video. They added that they hoped the footage would eventually reach the boy’s parents.
Strong Reactions from the Public
The video triggered strong reactions from netizens, many of whom expressed shock and concern over how the boy might be treated when he is not in public. Some questioned whether similar behaviour could be happening away from public view.
Several commenters urged the original poster to report the incident to the Ministry of Manpower. Others said they hoped the video would be seen by the child’s parents so they could take appropriate action.
Some social media users speculated that the wheelchair may not have moved because the boy had applied the foot brake. They suggested that the woman’s actions may have been intended to get him to release it.
However, other commenters disagreed and said that even if the brake had been engaged, it would not have justified hitting the child.
