A North East Line train heading towards Farrer Park MRT station made an unscheduled stop on the morning of February 25, 2026, after a female passenger fainted on board. The incident prompted a fellow commuter to activate the train’s emergency communication button, bringing the train to a halt.
Emergency Response on the Train
According to an SBS spokesperson, “a commuter who witnessed a female passenger fainting on the train activated the emergency button.” The train stopped at Farrer Park MRT station so staff could board and provide assistance to the passenger.
One commuter at the scene told reporters that an announcement instructed passengers to alight from the train and wait for the next service to continue their journey.
Passenger Assistance and Hospital Transfer
Once the staff reached the train, the female passenger was assisted and later sent to the hospital for treatment. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that they received a call for assistance at 250 Race Course Road, the address of Farrer Park MRT station, at around 9:20 a.m. “SCDF conveyed one person to Raffles Hospital,” the spokesperson added.
The timely action of the fellow commuter helped ensure the passenger received immediate attention. Passengers at the station recorded the incident and reported it to authorities, reflecting the swift coordination between bystanders, train staff, and emergency responders.
