An assault incident at Lucky Plaza has drawn attention after a video of the altercation circulated online. According to Shin Min Daily News, the incident happened on the evening of Feb. 8 on the sixth floor of the mall.
The situation first came to light when a video was posted on Facebook. In the footage, a bald man is seen following a woman closely before appearing to strike her twice. He then tries to grab her shoulder, but she walks away from him.
As the woman moves off, the man suddenly kicks her from behind. She falls onto her side, while the man loses his balance at the same time and ends up falling onto her legs.
Video Shows Woman in Pain After Fall
In another video recorded from a different angle, the woman is seen clutching her right hip after the fall and appears to be in pain. The man later stands up and attempts to kick her again, but misses and falls once more.
A female bystander is seen throwing a blue basket from a nearby shop at the man in what appeared to be an effort to stop the assault. Shortly after, a male bystander steps in and positions himself between the man and the woman before the video ends.
Store Owner Shares What She Witnessed
A clothing store owner on the sixth floor told Shin Min that the incident took place at around 6pm or 7pm. She said she was at the shop counter when she heard loud noises and decided to check what was happening.
“I don’t know what the argument was about, but the two kept arguing, and it got louder and louder,” she said. “It eventually attracted several onlookers.”
She added that the man appeared unsteady on his feet, was agitated and shouting, which led her to believe he was drunk.
“I heard he tried to buy the woman a drink, but she refused. His pride must have been hurt, which was why he lost control,” she said.
Dispute Lasted More Than 10 Minutes
According to the store owner, the argument went on for more than 10 minutes and drew a large crowd. The situation eventually prompted the police to step in.
She also shared that she initially tried to intervene because the argument was affecting her business. She asked both parties to stop causing a scene so as not to disturb customers. However, the man allegedly pushed her away and told her to mind her own business, claiming that he had “spent a lot of money” on the woman.
Several shop owners told Shin Min that the sixth floor houses multiple nightclubs and similar establishments, and disputes are not uncommon in the area. While arguments and physical fights do happen from time to time, the clothing store owner said this was the most serious incident she had personally witnessed.
