The three children of activist Han Hui Hui have been placed in hospital care for their safety while authorities continue investigations into allegations involving their family.
Children Taken to Hospital
On February 15, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and police took Han’s children, aged three, five, and six, to the hospital for medical assessment and care. Authorities said there had been an alleged “altercation” between the children and Han’s mother-in-law. Police determined it was unsafe for the children to remain at home.
A joint statement from MSF and the police explained that a child protection specialist centre had developed a plan to ensure the children’s safety after multiple reports regarding the family since August 2025. These reports included various allegations by Han, her husband, and her mother-in-law concerning violence against one another.
Supervised Care Arrangements
Han and her husband agreed to a plan where her mother-in-law would oversee the children’s care. After further incidents and reports, the children were placed in hospital care, which is a designated safe facility for children at risk.
On February 19, Han and her husband signed a voluntary care agreement with MSF’s Protective Service, which investigates child abuse cases. The agreement allowed the children to stay in the hospital while the parents were given weekly supervised access. Han had supervised visits on February 20, 26, and March 1, while her husband had visits on February 21 and 27.
Ongoing Investigations
Authorities said two of the children developed a fever and Han was informed during her supervised visits. MSF confirmed that “all three children remain safe and well at the hospital,” and that they continue to explore alternative safe care arrangements.
Han, 33, previously contested the 2015 and 2025 General Elections. She has also contacted the police several times, alleging that her husband and mother-in-law were abusive toward the children. Authorities are unable to provide further details as investigations are ongoing.
